Nobody came to his party

Poor little boy, this makes me so sad.  That dear little face

'Seeing my heartbroken little boy sitting alone at his empty party table was more than I could take': Mother begs parents to RSVP after NOBODY turned up to her son's birthday

  • A heartbroken mother said she watched as her nine-year-old son waited for his school friends to arrive - but none came
  • Mahlon started school one month ago after his family moved to a new area
  • 'Words cannot describe the utter and complete devastation,' his mother, who goes by the pen name Kristen Layne, wrote
  • Mahlon told his father of the party: 'No one came, Dad. I guess I'm not very popular at school'

They've only been in town for a month - that could be it.

But.......I have an 8 yo next door, who's mother thinks he's the bestest kid ever.

I wouldn't let my 9 yo grandson anywhere near that swine of a child.

Wow poor Mahlon.

That sort of thing could ruin a kid's self-confidence for life.

I wonder if he's being bullied at school?

Who's to say he's not the bully?

Lots of things to factor in here.

His mum might be the one who's disliked, for instance

Other mums making a point.    School mum pack mentality.

Witnessed that with their little cliques

I think there might be more to this than we are told. Kids don't not turn up for parties without reason.

Having been home-schooled and this being his first year at a public school might make it hard for him (and his Mum) to fit in.

I don't like apportioning blame to these sorts of stories we read in blogs, but if I had been the mum I'm pretty sure I would have somehow found a way to contact the other parents. It's a bit thoughtless to set your child up for potential upset like that.
