Thank you, David.

I lived in Coober Pedy in the early 1960ties, long before it became a townshio with streets, electricity, running water and real houses.

The School was one of the few building and there was only one teacher for about a dozen white children and a dozen native children. All grades were taught in the same room. We had a golden Labrador who often followed our children to School and stayed in the class room until home time.

What great memories you awakened.

Erica

Ex racing greyhounds are showing up in many places, like old folks homes and schools because of their friendly very non agressive personas.

A lot of people fear them because of storys like the recent "live baiting" scandel. but in reality the greyhound is one of the gentlest dog breeds. they just have the ability to run very fast which man has taken advatage of for gambling purposes. remove gambling and there would be no racing. then maybe this gentle breed could join with the other breeds as a pet only dog.

then perhaps the sensless slaughter of thousands of greyhounds every year who are either not fast enough or no longer able to race would end.
