good on them Lurker- thanks for posting their story. it shows me that not all are bad people

A very good news story but I'm afraid it doesn't pertain to all the refugees we have taken in over the years which is such a shame because they don't take the incredible opportunity to become part of our culture.

i recall reading here recently -

the opposition to bringing mainly christian

syrian refugees as part of the 12,000 refugees

to be resettled here.  hopefully, this nice

story will change their minds

i don't think its a case of good or bad.

just different.  muslim faith encourages

to be charitable to other muslims.

the couple in the link are not muslim.

people who don't integrate are perceived as 

bad.  while it can and does cause divisions

and conflicts, doesn't automatically make

them bad, they simply stay true to their beliefs. 

its just easier for ppl with similar values to 

live together.

Muslims also are encouraged to give charity to non-muslims. There are two categories for charity. One is for muslims only while the other covers anyone in need. The altruism of Australian Muslims rarely gets reported in the medis which is a shame.

It is not only christian refugees who volunteer.

permitted to give to non muslims -
