Watching the news

'Many of us wake up feeling, at best, a little off. We then look at the morning paper, which tells us all the things that have gone wrong in the world in the past 24 hours and we turn on the TV for the latest news so that we know what else has gone wrong. On the way to work the car radio gives us more news about murders, strikes, the infighting of politicians, and 10 reasons why interest rates are going up and our economy is going down. This is interspersed with reports about clogged freeways and road accidents.

During the day we are often surrounded by complaining staff members, clients or members of our family. We return home in the evening to a pile of bills, and then watch the news on TV so we can look at what else has gone wrong since we last checked in.

Then we watch some extraordinary series on TV where the hero lives in a multi-million mansion and is in love with his wife's lover's daughter. We cap this off with a violent murder show before a final look at the late evening news to see what has gone wrong during the day. Then we go to bed and read something to send us off to sleep.

Is it any wonder that most people have such a negative attitude towards everything?'

I always have found it a little disturbing, that "the news" is almost without fail a litany of horror, suffering and unpleasantness and its always presented by such nice people.

It's a strange contrast. I'd expect tales of horror to be told by frightening characters, something in keeping with the storyline, but no, night after night I sit down to share a half hour with pleasant, dare I say beautiful folk whose company I find strangely agreeable.

Maybe I should try watching the news with the volume turned up, some time. Smiley LOL

I see the news on TV, when I happen by a TV, and I have to laugh. Not just at what they actually want you to believe, but that people who have watched TV their whole life do actually believe. They were talking about ISIS a CIA creation much like Alkaida.

When I offered proof that this news is false or corrupted, the TV heads, as I like to call them, refuse to even look, not only that, but they go on the attack, cussing, making threats, ect. I'm a trator, I'm with the terrorists because I see the real terrorists are within our own governments and have control over the news most people watch.

To be fair, the TV don't always get it wrong, even a dead clock gives the right time twice a day.

Heres more credible news than anything on NBC, CBS, FOX,

You should look at all sides then decide for yourself.

Same as a holiday, I always feel I have a better frame of mind when I don't watch TV or read the papers. Smiley Wink

I rarely watch tv but when I do, it doesn't make me feel like that, I generally have a positive attitude about things. Sometimes (when one of my family or myself is about to catch a plane) I worry about the news I hear or see about planes missing etc.

most? well, i won't give an estimate so i'll say there are people who can cope with reality,  like to be aware.. keep informed on what's happening in the world and around them, without it affecting them on a mental level.

i think the worst thing we could do first up though is to log-on to the computer and hit  the chat board scene, you might waste a few hours of the day on a sitting when there's nothing remotely positive or entertaining to read or share. great start for the day!
