Will the very authoritive Macquarie Dictionary alter its entry of the word “lapse”? It is with much thanks that the Macquarie Dictionary expanded the meaning of the word “misogynist” to encompass any posturing deemed a challenge to the vaginaocracy. Think of the word “xenophobe” and how its meaning has been expanded to include “Australians opposed to refugees, asylum seekers and immigration of immiscible people”. Perhaps the word “lapse” when linked to the usual standard of professional behaviour might be recast as “having a Gillard moment”. It might cover a situation that saw a judge graciously lend his car to dead people for them to drive around town and accumulate traffic violations. I’m thinking of ex-Justice Einfeld in that situation having a “Gillard” moment. Another situation that could be described as a “Gillard” moment could have been used by the late Jeff Shaw who mysteriously, after having undergone a mandatory breath test following a road accident, ended up in possession of both blood samples.
Will members of the vaginaocracy still think of their pavonine champion in the same light seeing that she can display a lapse of professional judgment when it is needed. Certainly such an august organisation must be sure of its ideals, goals, hopes and aspirations. Does the vaginaocracy need a flawed champion?
