I had to laugh when thousands of people joined some group to get a better deal on their electricity bills.
I wasn't laughing at the notion of it but rather the result.
A 30% discount if paid on time.
If their current contract had expired all these people had to do was ring up their current supplier
and mention that they had been offered a 30% discount by another supplier.
This discount would be matched. Pure and simple.

You are always advised to contact your currnet supplier for a better deal before taking your account elsewhere.
I made the mistake of changing suppliers when this new system first started.....it was the worst mistake I ever made. As soon as possible I went back to my original supplier and have been there ever since.

30% off the entire bill or just the electricity usage?
on โ01-08-2017 08:43 AM
Usually it's only off the energy supply rate itself.

That over 50ty's site is not what it claims either and there is no unsubscribe
once they get your email addy they think they own you -
so I send their spam into the trash now.
The Budget comprehensive Insurance is dearer than GIO.

Just dragged out my last electricity bill to double check my facts.
I get - 17ยฝ% Winter Energy Concession - nothing new there.
As well as -
27% Guaranteed discount
18% pay on time discount
8% for having the gas with them as well
( I only get 8% pay on time for the gas bill)
= 53% year round plus 17ยฝ% in winter.
That's a butt-load of discounts. The best I've had in years.

Is that off the whole bill or just the usage charge?

You keep asking that.
It's not like the water bill, where there's a usage charge, sewerage, parks and gardens, etc.
My electricity bill says 'usage and supply charges'.....total charges.
Then lists all the credits, and then subtracts them from the total.
So, I'd say it's the whole bill.
