drunk bus driver

Im stunned...just reading the news and a bus has plowed into 2 yards,no one killed thank god, but the bus driver was TEN Times over the limit  !!!!

How in heavens did that not end so much worse ....a full size bus with a driver in that state in suburban Sydney .

I cannot  believe he would not have showed some sign before taking out bus

10 times that would be 5.00 in NSW

someone must face serious jail time

WOW, just the fact the driver had any alcohol in the their system.

Time for some serious checks of all bus/tram/train operators.

Police say he returned a positive roadside breath test of 0.2 – ten times the legal limit for a heavy vehicle driver.

I'm stunned too.

I would think it is very unusual though. I've found most bus drivers to be very careful.

I'm thinking that jail might be the wrong place for that bus driver.  It looks like saturation alcoholism has addled his brain to the point where he can't function anywhere, let alone in a bus, he's out of control.  There may be other serious psychiatric factors contributing to it also.

It may be he needs a long term intervention away from the dangers he presents to himself and society, but jail seldom is the solution, maybe a long stay in a drug/alcohol rehabilitation centre somewhere.

Thank goodness nobody was killed, it could have been a fatal outcome.  I really feel for those poor people who have suffered appalling damage to their houses and are left to pick up the pieces.  Hopefully, they are insured, but if not, then the bus company will have to pay all the damages.

It seems the clean-up for those houses is presenting a problem.

The house/s have asbestos.

Oh no!  That will be a very expensive clean up then as they have to have specialists do remove it (I think?)

That compounds the problem, so I hope the insurance/bus company etc move quickly to help and don't drag their feet.

Shocking, you would have rather hoped that someone at the depot wd have noticed, but if so they probably wouldn't have wanted to be dobbers!

its well known any house built more than a certain number of years ago most likely contains asbestos.

we also know asbestos is very dangerous to peoples helth.

so why arnt we doing anything about fixing this major health problem, sure if you dont mess with installed asbestos its pretty safe.

but as this event shows, we dont allways plan to mess with asbestos, it just happens, causing danger to how many people?

seems very similar to covering tall buildings with highly flamable stuff, its fine as long as the building doesnt start burning.
