I'd have bought the milk with one lot.

Left the store, and come back and bought the bread.

I knew this law, because my Council has it on the wall behind the cashiers.

Clearly people have tried it on in the past, and they didn't like it.

We were taught this law at school, but presumably the decline of usage of currency means they concentrate on matters of more current  practical concern.

its $10 in 50cent pieces, thats 20 i think, not exactly like someone wanting to buy $60 worth of fuel with 50cent pieces.

a bit over the top in my opinion even if its legal.

imagine a business so flush they are refusing payment in actual cash money.

and not a good look for a big company, is this the one run by wealthy indians?

OTR is a brand belonging to Exxon/Mobil

But let's face it....there's usually Indians behind the counter.

Where aren't they behind the counter these days at fast food joints?

Takes some hunting down to find a Subway in Melbourne that doesn't have them.

Intergalactic translator is on the fritz.

They don't understand me, I don't understand them   gaaah smiley.gif

But I found one, run by Aussies,  and they get my business.

Racist?:  Don't care.  Come at me.   pickfight.gif

I've heard they need to run a business for 3 years to qualify for citizenship

or something like that.

Doesn't even matter if they run it badly.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would have asked them to siphon 5 bucks out - paid for it.

Then gone back for another 5 bucks worth.

Idiots.

Ah, so that's why we had a Chinese family own/run the newsagency here and let almost everything about the shop slide into oblivion.  I never went in during the time they were there, except once to buy a V/Line bus ticket, but I was told they didn't use the lights or any cooling in the shop in mid summer because they didn't want to spend the money.

We have an Indian (or whatever) running our service station and we have the cheapest petrol for miles around.  The last four never lasted long (some were Indian) because they thought they were going to make a fortune in a short time, but this one reckons he'll stay.  It was closed for almost a year until he took over.
