Is it my settings or does Joan have to change her settings. She advises that no one else receives them like this.

Thanks for any advice.

So you're actually receiving them like that, are you Di? What you're seeing is the header information which you normally don't see unless you right-click on the email then select 'properties' and we need a bit more information before we can offer any ideas.

Firstly, what email clients are you both using? For example, I use Outlook Express while others mainly use MS Outlook. If you're using something different, I suggest that you go back to either of those and see if the emails still come in the same way. If so, then the problem is almost certainly on Joan's end, but if it fixes the problem, then the issue is with your own email client.

I think you need to do that before we can take it any further as I've never seen such a thing happen before, although it could be something as simple as having incorrect settings in your email client. Anyway, try Outlook Express or MS Outlook and let us know what happens.

Yes, the whole emails is in code, even the pictures. The HTML links are not underlined either.

I understand that, and have checked my settings ,  they have not changed at all.

Firstly, what email clients are you both using?

I used to use Outlook Express as my newsreader until I changed to Telstra, and have only ever used MS Outlook as my emailer.

No other email from anyone else comes in that way, I do family history research and receive many emails daily but have not ever received an email like this before. I believe the problem is almost certainly on Joan's end and it only began when she started using gmail.

I'm trying to convince her to recheck her settings but am having difficulty because she is saying none of her friends are having the same problem. I have one other person using gmail but none of her emails come through in code.

It's very frustrating to say the least.

Thanks heaps for your response.

Cheers,

Di

I'm afraid I must agree with you, Di. The problem is almost certainly at Joan's end, as you say. I can imagine how frustrating it must be as there's nothing you can do to rectify the problem from your end. As annoying as it will be, Joan is going to have to change her email client or provider, if only briefly, to prove the point.

You've done all you can do from your end and it's now up to Joan to check her email client's settings, or even change it to something else until she can locate and eliminate the cause. Sorry I can't be of more help Di, but that should be enough for Joan to be going on with for the time being anyway.

Cheers,
Bill

Good luck, Di. I hope for her sake that it's something relatively simple. 🙂

Help please with emails.

I met up with Joan yesterday but she didn't have her computer with her so we couldn't check her settings.  I have had emails sent from other people with gmail accounts and they have come through with no problems.

Will check her computer next Tuesday.

Thanks for everyone helping.

Well Di, it would seem that you have eliminated everybody else's computers except hers so here's hoping that next Tuesday will provide the answers you're looking for. It will be very interesting to learn precisely what you discover.

Help please with emails.

Hi all,

We have fixed the problem I was having with all the header showing in the email.  I was able to explain to June what she needed to check for in her gmail options.  The emails were set to send in plain text but we have now changed that to HTML.  Yay, it's all better.

So happy now.

Thanks for all the support.

Cheers,

Di
