I have a Dell laptop and past few months curser has been going crazy. I have already tried ( Control panel, double click on mouse icon, then the "pointer options" tab, then unchecked box next to "enhance pointer precision", then apply, then OK. Does not work. Curser still running crazy. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi, might be a little late now but
you test test for nature of cause of issue ie hardware vs software, by running a Linux operating system like Ubuntu in "try" mode
In "try mode" this freeware non-Windows operating system will install onto ram memory space only and does not change any files on the disk drive , so your Windows is not changed
Once launched your computer runs from the ram memory and disk / flash drive and all Linux software located on the ram memory is deleted upon computer shutdown . There after Windows can be started as normal
There are bundled applications such as office and browser , along with connection to network / internet, useful in this context for testing for issue as per Windows usage
simple iso file system burner application
Now if the issue is noticed when using Linux , then is most likely a hardware device issue ie faulty touchpad
(viruses written for Windows will not run on Linux)
If the issue is not observed then is most likely a software issue ie virus, driver conflict , driver error, Windows system file glitch
possibly be owner repaired or expected to be
If confirmed most likely software or have no Linux distro install disk
remove parasites, run full computer file scans using your anti-virus application program
and also antispyware programs installed
If you do not have any installed I suggest freeware
malwarebytes
superantispyware
also CCleaner , run there Cleaner tool , default settings
also update java if issue is more noticable during online browsing

If you have not installed any new applications since this issue was noticed try restoring Windows system files to that of a date prior to issue using System Restore found in Start menu (desktop) > all programs > accessaries > system tools
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows7/products/features/system-restore
as usual, save all valued personal files to removable media ie burn to disk or flash drive , external drive etc
