So if Australia Post always holds the packaging to blame - is it worth getting insurance?

If it is the case that when an item is damaged Australia Post (and Paypal/Ebay) blame the seller - is it worth insuring items or is this just extra money for absolutely no benefit ? 

 

I have a case where I wrapped and packed an item but it arrive crushed and Australia Post will not pay compensation.
