$48.99 is the annual fee for eBay Plus.

Did you not realise when you signed up for the free trial that your subscription would automatically begin once the trial period was over?

I don't think you can cancel once the subscription has begun, but I believe that you'll get some sort of voucher to use - around $40... and you can cancel NOW in the eBay Plus section so that you won't be charged again in the next cycle.
