Buyer to organise courier, paying via Paypal

Just after some advice.  I have sold an item (not on eBay) and the buyer wants to pay via PayPal. He doesn't have internet banking. He wants to organise the courier, doesn't want me to post it even though it will be cheaper, says a friend has a courier company. I haven't ever done anything like this before so want to know what I need to make sure of in regards to PayPal seller protection, the item is $1700 so you can see why I'm a little concerned.

does anyone know if I can invoice the buyer directly through PayPal that shows pick up as the postage method - that way I'm hoping I'm covered for seller protection. Thanks in advance.

I am not 100% sure of the paypal protection for off ebay transactions but with ebay transactions there is NO buyer or seller protection for pick up items.

The problem arises when the buyer has funded his payment with a credit card.....he can do a chargeback and you have no comeback as you have no proof of delivery.

If the buyer wants to pick it up or have a courier pick it up for him I would insist on cash on pickup or bank deposit before pickup.
