Why can I not talk to anyone at Ebay Australia?

I pressed on commit to buy, but have not proceeded to payment, and I want to cancel, as I have decided to go and pick up

the same item at Highpoint Shopping Centre instead.   It's utterly scary that there is no phone contact at all with Ebay Australia.

Anyone Else know what I can do?    I tried to message the seller to tell them I had cancelled my order before payment.

As mentioned, you will need to ask the seller to cancel and hope they will oblige as they have already been charged fees.

It has nothing to do with eBay as they don't sell anything, it is between you and the seller.

Selecting to bid or buy on eBay is an obligation to complete the transaction.

Being a weekend they may not get back to you until monday.

The overseas call center has been closed for weeks due to Coronavirus 

eBay would not cancel for you anyway, even if the call center was open

If you pressed commit to buy, then you commited to buy and need to pay

How long after committing to buy did you suddenly decide to buy elsewhere?

You said you want to cancel but then that you had cancelled before payment?  (not understanding, sorry)

Only the seller can cancel and they are no obligated to do so, they have been charged fees (even if you don't pay) and had their time wasted 

You will just have to hope the seller agrees to cancel

I finally found a store where I can get the item using my hand trolley, that is not impossible to get to with my bad back.
I tried to get the item from JB Hifi, but they refused to give me the correct unpacked dimensions of the 25L LG Microwave I was after, so that ended in tears, as I am completely strung out and fatigued from moving house. To have to wait for 7 days for a microwave to be delivered is not an option. I don't care if it is inconvenient, I would not have attempted to commit to buy at all, if I had known Customer Service was just not available. So you're saying that sellers deserve special treatment, but buyers do not? We are all human, and under stress. Everyone is being inconvenienced by the covid situation, but fairplay and understanding needs to be offered to customers. Trying to force a customer to pay when they have not technically paid yet is not legal, despite rules of service. I doubt Consumer Affairs would enforce such a situation. There has been no payment, so there is no payment to return, that is more likely the perfect scenario for change of mind....not AFTER payment. You must see this. I don't have to convice you, as I am the customer and it is between me and the seller. Let's hope they see my message soon and we can talk.

Where is the special treatment? You are the only one demanding special treatment

How is committing to buy then refusing to pay fair?

If a buyer commits to buy, they pay,simple as that

Customer service has nothing to do with it

Of course you don't care

And no, I do not 'must see' at all

Nobody likes non-paying fake bidders

Nobody is forcing you to pay for anything you do not want but the seller is entitled to get their fees back.....unless you would like to reimburse the seller.
If you do not pay the seller's fees their only redress is to open a non paying buyer dispute to get them.
Once the seller opens and closes this dispute without payment you will receive a strike on your account which could affect your buying in future.

Why would the seller want to ring you? You are not going to pay them so there is no point. You buy online....you sort any problems online, not via a phone call.

I am not sure why it is so scary that there is no phone contact with ebay Australia now....there never has been unless you ring the number in the phone book and the staff will redirect you to the service centre number.
The ebay Australia office does not connect to a help centre.

The 1800 number will connect you with a help centre in the Philippines or the USA although both are closed now due to the coronavirus.

Given they say that it is giving sellers special treatment to expect the buyer to pay when they commit to buy

and they say they don't care if they inconvenience the seller, it very much sounds like this is 'normal' for them to buy and not pay

Certainly on my blocked bidder list now
