I want to refund part of shipping cost

A buyer has ordered and paid for two CDs before waiting for my invoice. Shipping paid was $8 but should be $4. I want to refund him $4. but, despite following instuction, I cannot find any options which allow me to do a partial refund. This is frustrating as I have done it before. Help!

Did you get a refund from eBay for the $4 you refunded. I have done the same thing but it looks like I have still paid the full fee amount.

I have had a similar 'over payment of postage' recently.  I was able to give a partial postage refund easily. I was using a laptop not a phone, so that could be your problem.

I used the drop down menu against the order, picked refund, entered the amount and clicked on  "postage discount'.  I also always add a note with details as to how the buyer can request combined postage before making any payment if buying more than one item from same seller in the future.

Done this recently on 2 different ebay accounts, both buyers were very happy as they hadn't expected a refund.

Do the fees applicable to the postage overages get refunded by eBay? I have done this in the past and I still end up paying the full amount of fees.

It is possible to get ebay to refund the fees but so much hassle, I deduct the fees paid on the extra postage paid before making the refund.

You can do it on the phone app, it’s no big deal.

As said, deduct ebay fees from any refund portion, as basicly the refund is a matter of goodwill between yourself and the buyer
