Buyer pays for item, but no postage

I sold an item which was a "postage to be calculated", and before the sale, the buyer requested a postage quote, which I supplied.

They have paid (Paypal), but not paid for the postage (paid before I could send an invoice). Now they want to know how to pay for the postage, and I cannot send an invoice. I have tried to "unmark item paid", but still no option for sending an invoice.

Any clues?

Send them a Paypal "money request" for the postage component.

Somewhere in the eBay settings (in buyer requirements or something like that) there is a box 'allow buyers to edit postage'. If this was checked it may have enabled them to remove the postage before making payment.
