What the hell are managed payments?

Seems to be tied up with the new Adyen payment that's going to replace Paypal naomi.

Everything I read about this new payment system is a problem and I will be closing my accounts with Ebay. I am a buyer only and have other options to find what I want, unlike sellers. Ebay won't miss a little buyer like me but as I will only use Paypal for online purchases it is just not what I want.

I couldn't agree more maranock, I'm only a small-time buyer now and I'm not happy with being unable to use Paypal in the future.
If eBay hadn't made it so darned difficult years ago for sellers (MBG, 180 days on Paypal etc) with their "protection" of buyers, I would have jumped into selling here.
So it looks like I'll be spending money elsewhere as well.

My understanding, from twyngwyn's many links, is that Paypal will be one of the many payment methods accepted by Adyen. The problem will be when sellers actually get their money.
All of which is in the future, as eBay haven't even managed to roll Adyen out in the USA yet.

I got one of their email surveys last week.
It started off with all the usual motherhood quesations then suddenly morphed halfway through to all these questions about managed payments, and how I'd like it to work.
So it's coming.
