I need to change a postage fee but Ebay won't let me - 1 day to go b4 end of sale

I need to change a postage fee as I have discovered I have overcharged.  As it is only 1 day to go, Ebay won't allow it.  Is there a way I can alter the invoice before I send it> I have tried this before without success.

If there are bids or less than 12 hours you can't change details in a listing.

After the auction finishes select send invoice then adjust postage cost and DO NOT click recalculate, that reverts it back to the original.

(The worst name for that button)

Then select preview to check it and send.
