I read these forums & am concerned about the defect system but not sure how it actually works. I have read up on Ebay but would like to know if I am understanding it correctly.
My defect rate went from 1.43% last month to 0.73% this month.
From what I gather it is recalculated every month & the calculations are for the last 3 months. Is this correct?
I have been selling for a long time but never pay too much attention to the changes, usually ignore the Ebay emails, notices & just adapt as needed. But examples of members with much better feedback than myself getting kicked as a seller has got my attention.
Seems to me the lower turnover sellers are the ones struggling as a defect has a greater impact on their overall %.
I have negative feedback & get a few defects but nothing that gets me even near the 5% figure.
Is 5% the figure when you get kicked off as a seller?

5% as a seller
2% to retain top seller status

Thanks for that.
I can now see the problem for smaller sellers.
Trying to keep under 5% for a 12 month period will be difficult.

that's right - and then you click on the > arrow next to it, and it will tell you you got xxx low ratings and you say "what the ...."
sometimes I think it's worse to look.

That presumably depends on what you sell and the quality of your buyers.
I certainly qualify as a smaller seller. My defects on this ID are 0, and on my selling ID are <2%. So still TRS.
I don't understand why you are questioning your defect rating halving, though.
