Sending iPhone to USA from Aus

Hi, I've found out that it's 130 to send an iPhone from Aus to USA with pack and send. Does anyone know the cost of tax and customs in USA?

My advice, don't. I'm sure you can ship international post with tracking for less but selling an iPhone to an overseas buyer is just asking for heartache. The most scammed purchase is iPhones (both sellers and buyers). Sell an iPhone "pick up only" and ask for cash. Make sure the transaction is conducted in a busy public place. Snatch and run scenes are also linked to iPhones!
The chances of you being out of pocket both an iPhone and the shipping charges (eBay refunds buyers both) are higher than you might realise.

It's just a gift for a friend. Just wondering if anyone else here knows the customs fees in U.S. I would have to pay.

Why don't you send them a gift card for the same amount of dollars?

If Pack and send is going to ship the item for you they should also be able to tell you what other charges will be involved.

I understand the limit is fairly high so there may not be any more to pay.

You could check the US Customs and Border Protection site to see if it is restricted in any way.

Are you sure that the iPhone will work in the USA?

Not sure where as anything with a lithium battery has to sent is specialised packaging and cannot be sent overseas using regular Aus Post services.

Can you not buy apple gift cards on line in US$ which you could have seent to your friend's address?

Failing that if they have a Paypal account you could transfer the money, if it was sent as a personal payment there would be a small percentage conversion charge but no fees for accepting the payment.

I would have thought iphones would be cheaper in the US anyway so why not buy one on a US site to be sent to your friend.
