The return should have tracking which is insured up to $100.

If you authorised the return and paid for additional insurance, then why should you not be covered?

Send Aus Post a private message via their FB page. They're pretty good at responding within a few hours.

Ebay fees have got nothing to do with Aus Post handling of an item.

Ebay fees will be returned to you if you cancel a transaction.

Alsoโ€ฆ. Please pack your items so that they wonโ€™t get broken. Everybody knows how workers handle packages. Pack up your breakables appropriately. ๐Ÿ’‹

When you see the inside of an Australia Post Mail Centre, with skids piled high to the roof you will then understand the enormous volume of parcel post.  The handful of parcel sorting machines in capital city's will handle your parcel more 'gently' than hand sorting, however at some stage your parcel will be thrown.

This is not due to anyone 'not giving a damn' about your parcel, it's part of the hand sorting process and sheer volume.  You need to pack your items with enough packing material to withstand a minimum 1 metre vertical drop without breaking.  Best practice would be 3 metres taking into account the weight of the item.  Another rule of thumb, the further the distance, the more the packaging.

Thirdly, using Express Post your parcels will be handled far less as the sorting process is reduced and depending on destination, a plane ride is more smoother than a bus trip.

The actual packaging requirement, is for the item to withstand having an item of  20kg dropped on it from waist height.   While a light, fragile, item, might easily survive a  1m drop, it can be totally destroyed if a 20kg item is dropped on it from the same height

Generally when the refund is processed via ebay,  ebays fee is refunded to the buyer and you only refund the actual amount you received after fees.   Ebays portion of the sale is no longer refunded to you as a credit.

Note,  under certain circumstances ebay has always had the option not to refund there fees, in which case you would be required to meet the full refund.

Generally if the seller cancels, eBay will refund the fees, less flagfall.

If a buyer opens a case, and the seller then refunds, eBay will keep the fees.

What you said, but much clearer.
