Does everyone know that ebay are advising buyers to request a refund if an item doesn't arrive by the estimated delivery date.

and cop a defect in the process. Even if it turns out tracking shows its sitting in PO waiting for collection.

Looks like a time for some direct action by Sellers.

 

I suggest sellers continue with the excellent service of posting within 1 day of payment but change their delivery time to something much longer , say 7 days. This will increase the estimated delivery time and help avoid this absolutely unreasonable and ridiculous defects.

That's ridiculous. 

 

..just request a refund or more information from the seller

 

 

Request more info from the seller should come first and be done before they open a request/case.

 

I have had two letter rate items  go missing in the post this year - one to UK, other one NSW to VIC. Low value, not anything desirable to steal. The buyers are genuine, one wants what they purchased so happy to wait a bit longer. 

 The UK one waited a month before opening a case.

 

Never had anything else go missing in the post in the last 10+ years.

Delivery times seem to be way out the last few months.  It used to take about a week to send a poster to the US, now it's taking two weeks.  Same with Canada.  Domestic parcels are sometimes taking half a week to get into the second Australia Post facility after the local PO.  Combined with eBay's too-easy buyer refund program, it is causing a lot of stress for sellers.
