Hello, is there a way to cancel my order and get a refund?
It's into the 8th day now and the seller still hasn't shipped.
The only reason I bought from them was because they said they would ship within 24 hours.
I messaged the seller asking to cancel and they wont.

Only the seller can cancel, so you're stuck with that.

What a ridiculous system, how long do they get to send it before anything happens, 2 weeks, 3 weeks?
Do I have anything from eBay on my side?
Or am I at the mercy of the seller for everything?

One day after the last estimated delivery date. That's when you can open a case for 'not received'.
All in the FAQs about buying, which as member for over 20 years you would be fully across.

Seller is in China, with a couple of worrisome negatives.
Seller might say they ship within 24 hours, but if their actual handling time is 30 days, they have that leeway. Plus, they might tell a buyer anything they want to hear in order to get the sale.
What is the estimated date range for delivery?

Well in 20 odd years I've never had an idiot seller take 8+ days to send something.
I should be able to cancel my order and get a refund if the seller does not do what is in their description - 'We guarantee to ship out within 24 hours after payment confirmation'
I could have bought it somewhere else and had it delivered by now.

At this point in time, there is nothing you can do. The ship within 1 day, as stated in the listing, is not enforceable and in any event carries a proviso.
