Another Mystery Artwork (Oil Painting)

Here is an oil painting that l recently come across. No idea of the history at all.

Its a large piece 98cms x 72cms.

Artist signed Faber.

Now kid me if l'm wrong but those boats sailing on the water - are they not all different time periods? l can see a paddle steamer there along with the clipper ship.

Any leads or hints muchly welcomed.

Will get a close up of the siggie in a second.

Those Faber pencils have made google search a bit of a nightmare when looking for this artist's name.

l've tried blocking out pencil, crayon, pens, brushes....ARGH!

This guy looks about the right date   

Karl Gottfried Traugott Faber (German, 1785-1863)

 

Can't track down any actual signatures though.

To my mind this looks like a relatively modern pastiche of sea-going vessels of another era, along the lines of Freedman's Cavalcade of Transport. Naturally I may be completely wrong.
