I think (but we all know what thought does!!) this is majolica. The handles look like gargoyles or similar. There are some faint numbers on the base.
I would like to find out country of origin, and possibly what age it would be - it's certainly not new.

This type of pottery has been produced for 100s of years - but then again, a lot is produced to LOOK old.

Thanks for that. Certainly looks very similar. And I would agree with Italian. Though mine is 22cm tall not 40 as per lot 203.
I definitely don't think this one is made to LOOK old. It really is.
I may take it to an antique dealer and see what they have to say about it.
I bet you had to scratch your head a bit on this one!! lol.

Defintley looks Italian of origin to me as well, infact theres a place in Sicily called Taoromina that specialises in this type pottery.
