Antique vase

I think (but we all know what thought does!!) this is majolica.  The handles look like gargoyles or similar.  There are some faint numbers on the base.

I would like to find out country of origin, and possibly what age it would be - it's certainly not new.

This is as close as I can get - see lot 203 on this page

This type of pottery has been produced for 100s of years - but then again, a lot is produced to LOOK old.

Thanks for that.  Certainly looks very similar.  And I would agree with Italian.  Though mine is 22cm tall not 40 as per lot 203.

I definitely don't think this one is made to LOOK old.  It really is.

I may take it to an antique dealer and see what they have to say about it.

I bet you had to scratch your head a bit on this one!! lol.

Defintley looks Italian of origin to me as well, infact theres a place in Sicily called Taoromina that specialises in this type pottery.
