Iittala Finland Orange Glass Vase paper label

I have an orange vintage glass vase with a paper sticker which I think is an old Iittala Finland label.

Has anyone seen this label before and Is it IIttala?

The vase is white cased and 18 cm high and with clear handle.

The print on the label appears to be Iittala Finland but is worn and faded.

Thanks

Sandra

Re: Iittala Finland Orange Glass Vase paper label

I can absolutely see that you would think Iittala. And if you can make out Iittala Finland on that label then that's obviously what it is.

I have several 20th century glass reference books - the most complete (Millers Glass Fact File A-Z) lists several intermediate IIttala labels after merger with Karhula between 1946 and 1956 when the white i in the red dot label was adopted, one of those intermediate labels is shown here

Nothing that remotely sounds like your label. Also the type of glass is not like what was typically being produced at Karhula or Iittala, although it looks 1960s to me. Of course it's entirely possible that this was a label for mass-produced cased glass which was a separate line from the designer lines. Nothing I can find on an on-line search that is similar.

There is glass messages chat board

and a blog here

Either may be able to help you if you upload an image of label and vase. Good luck.

Thanks for your response and ideas. Yes I agree with everything you have said about the glass type and the previous older Iittala labels.

I will look at the glass messages chat boards you provided - thanks so much.

It may be one of those mysteries that remain so.

Cheers

Sandra
