What's it called and what is it for?

l give up.

l bought this from a garage sale this morning. The people running it said it was 'an old pressure cooker'.

Erm...

A by-stander said it was a champer pot with a lid.

Erm....

It's very heavy, two handed job to carry it. Branded with Hoffman Australia.

The metal handle slots into holes on the side so it's original.

There is spider crazing under the glaze.

Hi,

Your bystander was right, it's a chamber pot with a lid. It goes in a a wooden commode chair.

Sorry, meant to get back to you last night, one of our pots has a lid, the spare one, the other one that came with the chair, doesn't.  Maybe I can use the lidded one to cook the Christmas pudding??
