Another COVID outbreak , another holiday time

While I do not have a specific list , i have noticed the strange timing of COVID outbreaks , so often leading up to various holiday times - even the original Chinese outbreak , during a time of their traditional national mass travel

This one no different - start of school holidays - maximum commercial and social stress , again....

Is a good thing that Australia is a land of patient and stoic people - adaptable to privations if for a worthy ideal, and we have not caved in to those influences of fatalistic appeasement

Ventilation is a serious issue. It comes down to a lot of factors that the average person wouldn’t even consider might be an issue.

Engineers specialising in airflow and infection control procedures with regard to airborne transmission are those who must have the final word. This is one area in which medical or health personnel do not have the expertise to say what is a risk and what is not.

On a personal level, I am very glad to have purchased the Choice recommendation for air purifier.

Which air purifier was it, Countess?

I have one that was put out by Nature Direct, which is supposed to be all natural products, no chemicals.

How effective it is, I couldn't say. I don't know that they were made though to deal with highly infectious diseases, I'd say they were for normal household use only.

Re: Another COVID outbreak , another holiday time

Folk logic level discussion of Covid transmission via air and the imagined need to mitigate was broached about a year ago in this forum

Is a matter of reducing then seriously believed but not validated active covid viral airborne loading

The third method I seem to recall is a relatively simple UVC zapper - basically UV-C lights placed within a fan forced copper metal duct  - incidentally a design concept that could be implemented in hotel quarantine rooms and existing air/heat ducting, if proven effective

I suppose in a years time will be considered ...

" after 18 months the States are finally taking seriously the need and advantages of dedicated quarantine facilities, "

ALL Quarantine cases (under our Constitution) are the responsibility of the Commonwealth not the states. The fact the states have to run shows just how hopeless the present Government is. As has been mentioned countless times hotel were not designed or built to be quarantine places. The fact that states have tried to run them as quarantine sites just shows how quickly the Federal Government dumps its responsibility when ever and where ever it can

Australian States I think are  a bit nervous about the real or imagined legalities of locking people up for reasons other than crime , as you mention is a Federal Govt responsibility  and they have been less than pro-active in developing and managing dedicated facilities

Hotel's are image associated with vacation so there use as instant quarantine has I suspect side stepped natural ps resistance to managing new services
