Tax Office workers say the agency's massive job cuts have hurt its ability to catch Australia's corporate tax cheats.
Workers said the job cuts hit particularly hard in a workplace where theATO has very little formal training for auditors and relies on on-the job training by mentors.
"The loss of veterans means rookies need to handle their cases without the assistance of a more experienced staff member," an official reported.

Of course the tax cheats will be the winners and who are the biggest pool to push the limits? those who tend to donate to the LNP. I am not saying that these people cheat more on their tax than others but push the boundaries of the law and so when they go they tend to go big and so the tax loss is bigger than mum and dad's.
This is a great example of how the government says one thing publicly but does the other privately.
They say they are about reducing the deficit but have stridently avoided reforming tax and are now actively hindering the enforcement of the tax laws and therefore revenue.
The question is whether it is to support their big donor mates (YES! of course it is!) or whether they are just following the usual incompetent short term thinking approach for their own short term political gains without considering the long term approach that benefits ALL Australians.
It seems to me the LNP are the "leaners" in Australia as they are only concerned about their own short term aims.

Talk about broad brush generalisation. Prove the first paragraph.
As Packer said, everyone's job to minimise tax. That's why we employ Accountants.
Ever thought that maybe lefties never have the money to push the boundaries ?
Maybe if they generated the income some of the LNP donors do, they would do it also push the boundaries.
Ever thought WHY the big earners are big LNP Donors ?
Something to do with business policies instead of say the Greens which is stop this, stop that (unless it is for Wind Turbines
bug gering up the environment or Solar panels, then all "environmental concerns" suddenly dissapear into thin air).
