about a month ago i bought a small split system air conditioner from 'Kogan' (an online shoping site)
normally not an item i would buy as the size if bought locally would be about $700 for just the unit
but kogan had an end of summer sale unit at $430.
then they had a free delivery sale too on the airconditioner
then they sent me a 'get $20 off' promotion
bringing the price down to $410 delivered.
so i got one.
i have been planning to save up to have it installed in a few months.
i will now spend the $750 on the install

If you receive a pension of any kind - it will be deposited into the usual account.
I guess I won't get that one then....
You can list an item on ebay - My lament - no stimulus bonus for me , qty 750 , $1 each , instant download , item description : ornate text message " thank you from a battler"
So now you're advocating scams
No a scan is deception - the listing was offering an ornate email of thanks in exchange for $1 - a transaction , was a reply in jest in response to your mournful observation.... not meant to be taken seriously

Mr Elephant and I were chatting about the handouts this morning, and we have a sinking feeling that most of ours will probably have to go towards bailing out family members who have just lost their jobs,

The coronavirus supplement won’t begin until 27 April.
The first household payment won’t happen until April and the second until July.
Pensioners won’t see a boost until May. Employers won’t get one until 28 April.
We all agree people need immediate support.

I think the expectation is that people will have some level of savings to draw on. Like the many thousands who were totally wiped out by the bushfires.

I'm sure they will - but for people who have been in fulltime, reasonably wellpaying jobs, Newstart even at the higher rate, probaly won't cover everything.
We own our own home and have a guaranteed income that provides everything we need (as opposed to want, of course) so it would be pretty churlish of us not to offer help - it's what families do.

this comment is not aimed at anyone in particular
i'm thinking a whole lot of 'im ok jack stuff you' types who have been very out spoken re people on benefits are about to be holding their hands out for a handout, if they arnt allready.
i have allways said, mind what you say as but for the grace of *** goes you.
you can be sitting pretty with everything you ever wanted then up jumps a virus and your whole world crumbles
and those 'undesirables' you passed in your nice car on your way to work, omg, now it you!
i see a whole new world ahead of us, many will never get back what they had.

Not holding out my hand for government help here ( wouldn't dare do it even if circumstances changed) but i wish all of you here best of luck, stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy. I despise virtue signalling lefty socialists but don't wish any ill on any of you serial agitators that hang around here.
I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU TO CHINA for bringing this on.
