Hi Enigmabear; I was @ what may have been Split Enz 1st big gig in Melb! A 5 bands for $5 event @ Festival (affectionately known as Festering) Hall - still there as a venue.
From memory the other bands were Skyhooks, AC/DC, Hush & Kush w/ Jeff Duff as frontman.
Split Enz were the opening act & not well received. There was a lot of booing & throwing of Twisties (Usually saved for when Skyhooks sang Smut) - a song that was radio banned @ that time & mentioned the snackfood in the lyrics.
They didn't endear themselves to the packed crowd when the gig started late & their roadies rolled an upright piano across people's feet & manhandled it up onto the stage from centre front. I've been to many concerts in my time, but that piano getting onstage & their debut was one of the weirdest I ever saw!

Apart from Lady Gaga I seem to be stuck in a time warp!!!

A lot of great bands & songs there - I seem to be in a time warp too! - except for MEST & very early Good Charlotte!
Also great ones from Chameleon54 - prompted me to listen to on Youtube, as did earlier posts by Kopes & Enigmabear. Just why I posted this thread!
The only bands I've not seen from my list live are MEST & Slade

I've seen the 1st 8 artists from your list & many from Chameleon's - which prompts me to ask about everyone's fave concert? Or worst?
Strange no Beatles songs yet on the lists? I'm not a fan. Have met Paul & Linda years back. Lovely people!

I had a fabulous time when I saw It's A Long Way To the Top many years ago.
My favourite has to be Jim Keays, Darryl Cotton and Russell Morris.
Darryl Cotton died 2 months after this concert with Jim Keays going not much longer afterwards.
We've lost so many talented people in recent times.

Favorite concert - I have been to many of the big stage city shows, but my favorites are a couple of small club / pub shows.
The first was seeing Hoodo gurus live many years ago before they became famous. Myself and a friend would visit seedy clubs in Hindley street ( Adelaides little brother to Kings Cross ) . We went through a doorway and down some rickety stairs into the biggest fire trap, basement I have ever seen. ( only the stairs and single doorway out ) This was in the early 1980,s and the place was PACKED full of genuine Punks with red & blue mohawks, nose studs and leather jackets all moshing. My friend and I where the only " normal " people in the joint, a couple of conservative country lads, politely dressed and spoken. It didnt matter, everyone was having a great time and no-one cared.
The band had a funny name we had never heard of. They where using well worn old gear and playing songs we had never heard, but heII they where good. We worked our way to the front of the crowd and where standing so close we could touch the guys if that way inclined. ( which we wher'nt .... ) Been a big fan ever since. ......So Hoodo Gurus on their " Darwin or Bust " Tour is the first pick..
Second pick, The Chior Boys playing a tiny little local country pub. The town didnt get many major acts coming through and the place was packed. It was standing room only and you couldnt move anywhere. Money was ferried across the top of the crowd to the bar with order and the drinks where ferried back to the buyer same way. ( it was all locals who knew each other ) .
The music was LOUD and the highlight of the night was Chior Boys playing ABBA's Dancing Queen on heavy electric guitar. It was like something straight out of Prascilla Queen of the Desert. .........Now thats what I call a good night night out.
