Very sad - he was only 68
I remember Fred Dagg from TV and radio in NZ in the 70s. So funny. I have several recordings of the early stuff and they are still as funny as they were back then.
We will miss you on Thursday nights

He was making me laugh when I was a young fellow. He was so dry and so funny. RIP.

Very sad to see another contemporary go.

And according to his colleagues he was a really nice generous person.
Though I suppose most people say that of the dead.
However in his case I can believe it.

He was a one off. thursday nights just won't be the same without him.
Theres's a lovely tribute skit from Charlie Pickering and Tom Gleason doing the rounds on Facebook at the moment - it may be on The Weekly tonight..

Watched the ABC tribute to John last night and I can't help feeling that they short-changed the man. He was a comedic giant and an unparalleled satirist.
In their defence, I guess the ABC was under time pressure to produce and release the programme within a week or so of his passing. Top marks for obtaining the interview with his daughters. However there must be a mountain of video material featuring John and I feel the show gave us a sketch rather than a portrait.

It's quite possible they will do a more in depth retrospect of some kind later. I certainly hope so. Or maybe even a repeat of 'The Games" I'd love to watch that again.
