Ebay shipping costs

Hi All,

I have a question regarding shipping costs. I have noticed a lot of listings on ebay.com.au for items for around the $5 mark, while also offering free shipping. How is this possible? These listings offering free shipping are clearly business selling for profit, as they are branded items selling brand new. My understanding is that registered AUS post has a minimum charge of around $8, so these numbers don't add up.

I would apprieciate it if anybody could shed some light on what offers exist for ebay sellers trying to turn a profit.

Regards

Some sellers will send small items as letter for $1 or large letter $2.

Off course this means they are not tracked/protected.

Asian sellers especially Chinese get subsidies from their local government and don't pay any postage.

There are no special postage offers/subsidies from eBay.

You can buy prepaid C5 envelopes for $2.30 each in 50s. They are good for 20mm and up to 500g.

At $5 sell prices I doubt too many sellers would be forking out for registered.

Assuming they are not Chinese, in which case what Kopes said.
