Re: No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

I have had the worst few months in my eBay life  😞

Fingers crossed .... the last couple of weeks have picked up a bit, but not nearly to what it used to be.   I refuse to pay to list items, as I buy my items and don't make a huge profit.  At present, I try use up every FREE listing (from the promotions) and list the 40 monthly ones spread over the month.

I used to get a great pleasure from selling  .... especially when an items gets several bids ... but all of that is in the past    .... usually just the one bid now.     I don't think I could go on without the few regulars I have who use combined postage.

Let's hope we'll turn the corner soon 🙂   ..... but reading the above comments, I don't hold out a lot of hope.

We are all going the way of the local suburban milk bar..remember them?

Once the buyers start to bypass them for cheaper prices, the buying habit was set. Once real estate prices rose then they are redeveloped.

Ebay grew when few people trusted on line buying hence small value one off items and feedback reputation etc. Now many people are comfortable both buying and selling (hence too many sellers/competition on ebay). Buyers are comfortable going direct to store sites and net search engines are better at finding store price comparisons.

All these recent site changes are Eba'ys desperate way of trying to hang on. But folks don't like their local being changed it creates resentment, confusing and resistance. So they give up and go elsewhere.

Sellers are Ebays marketing face, loose their trust and not only are they buyers but members of the public, and all too often sources of advise to those thinking of buying. Word spreads quickly "It's stuffed".

Sellers on the boards struggle with the changes, most sellers dont come to the boards so they are even more lost, buyers generally make less transactions than sellers so they have no hope, and the fist time "computer says no" happens they give up walk away and tell everyone they know Ebays too hard now.

Change is killing Ebay, yet Ebay is a representitive of a period of online shopping development and without change it will be superceded and die. I can only see Ebay dying whether by slow poisening or by the sword is yet to be determined.

Once the public turn their back on a brand name its all over and the cyber world is even more fickle than most

Re: No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

i think everyone's right - sellers are leaving - buyers are leaving.

Even my buying habits are changing.

I looked at the Target 20% off promotion. I thought about buying a $40 heater. By the time i get the 20% off it will be $32 then add $9 postage and that will be $41. So if i go to the Target store in my town i will get it for $40.  Maybe the big boys are trying to drive us back to their stores instead of buying on line. When we all give up buying from their online stores they will leave. Wonder what ebay will do then to entice all the small sellers back.

Big boys are using it as a marketing venue. When the buyers evaporate so will the big boys.

They are only here to run interference on our small seller competition. Once we are gone they no longer need be here. Lets be honest many online buyers would go direct to big store sites once they have seen something here. Its human nature to cut out the middle man (Ebay) in the chase for a better deal.

Re: No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

And as an example of distraction from eBay sellers' items ........ Today I googled "women's wallets" - looking for a selection of practical designs and perhaps bloggers who've written something about wallets ......... I then went on to eBay and was inundated by wallet advertising from retail stores and the bigger corporate eBay stores. So as a buyer, these become the big distraction from the general eBay listing of women's wallets or any other item I'm searching for.

The big name brands as I said are here for one reason only and that is to wipe out the remaining pockets of us smaller sellers,I cannot beleive ebay actually thinks they will stay here once we are gone. the big name brands have also got nearly 100% share of the online market off ebay as well now,try getting a price for SEO services once you have set up your website if your game. You cannot compete against them as they hire dedicated staff to make sure they rank high in the searches.......

Re: No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

We are about to try taking on a SEO specialist to get our web site tuned up.

So hoping it doesn't cost us an arm and a leg.

Predictions are about $100 per week to figure out your search keywords and feed those back into your site and the advertising campaigns.

Should take 4-6 weeks they tell me.

So I'm about to learn more about doing just this.

That Price for SEO is about right for a basic service and you will need at least that to get you started, the problem is it needs constant tuning and try to learn as much as you can to try and do some yourself. But you would be like me and findind time is difficult to do everything when youir running a few online buisnesses at once......................

Re: No sales it is frightening .Anyone else ??????

I've gone back to selling at markets-my buyers there say they avoid ebay as a place to purchase as items are too expensive, and the sellers i come across say that as a tool ebay is now too complicated-not suprised no one gets any sales with this general public opinion of this site-i just want to sell items without stupid dsr's etc-maybe ebay should make gumtree auctions because there are more buyers there.
