Tracking Numbers Not Updating / Ebay claiming they are not valid numbers

For the last 2 months I have been having increasing problems with tracking numbers not updating.

Every week I get a message from eBay telling me to upload valid tracking for my orders. Every week the % they claim I have uploaded has declined (it was 94%, then last week 50%, and now this week they claim I am uploading 0% valid tracking)

As I use shipping labels, eBay automatically populates the tracking, so it can't be invalid. I have valid tracking for 100% of my sales! (confirmed by checking the tracking with Aus Post)

I am concerned that my listings are being pushed down in the search results due to this issue. I have raised it with eBay, and they have assured me it will be fixed, however that was 3 weeks ago, and still the problem persists.

My question is, am I the only one? Or is this a problem for everyone at the moment?

If anyone from eBay is reading this, can you PLEASE sort it out, it is becoming very frustrating!

Re: Tracking Numbers Not Updating / Ebay claiming they are not valid numbers

I have had one or two of these messages. I know the tracking number is valid...I manually enter it and do all the other bits at the same time, feedback etc.

I haven't had any concerns raised from the customers at the moment.

If I get another message I'll do a check on the tracking number.

Seems to be yet another glitch to the never ending glitches from the eBay end of things.

Do you use the ebay labels or labels through Aust Post?

Thanks for the reply, I am glad it's not just a glitch on my account. I have had one customer complain about it, they (rightfully) assumed I had printed a label but not lodged it at the PO. I directed them to the Aus Post Tracking site, and they were happy with that.

Hopefully this is resolved soon.

Re: Tracking Numbers Not Updating / Ebay claiming they are not valid numbers

I've had the same experience.

When I purchased satchels and paid through the Australia Post website, I had no problems.

For the past two weeks I've been purchasing labels through ebay.  I checked last night and the last seven parcels were showing only the initial scan from when the label was purchased.  I was alarmed because some of the parcels had been posted nearly two weeks before.  When I checked the label IDs through the Australia Post tracking site, six of the parcels were showing as delivered and one was awaiting collection.  The first of the parcels had been delivered 10 days ago.

Previously when I've purchased items and seen only an initial scan, I assumed the seller purchased the label then waited days before posting.  Now I know that's not the case but how many of my buyers assume the same thing?

It seems ludicrous that a label purchased through ebay does not update tracking information on ebay.  What happens if a buyer claims item not received?  How does ebay verify if their own system is showing no tracking information?  I ended up printing copies of the tracking information from the Australia Post website so I would have something if the tracking information disappears from AP.  However, I've now gone back to purchasing through Australia Post.

Don't use eBay labels. They are generally more expensive.

If you have buyers querying delivery, direct them to AP.

Re: Tracking Numbers Not Updating / Ebay claiming they are not valid numbers

I’ve got one, generated postage through eBay, parcel has been delivered, confirmed by Aust post tracking.  This whole new Managed Payments too is a nightmare.  Being charged for fees that fall under promotions. Contacted eBay and they are having « trouble » refunding what shouldn’t have been charged.  My next 3 sales, all charged FVF and shouldn’t have been, now I have to waste time getting them to refund.  And of course the first person you get on chat can’t help so they put you onto someone else, only to have to go through it all again, until they tell you, » I’ll need to put you through to a specialist ».

since eBay changed to Managed Payments, nothing works properly anymore 😢

I started using 7 Eleven via Toll. A bit cheaper and delivery is so much quicker!

Re: Tracking Numbers Not Updating / Ebay claiming they are not valid numbers

I purchase my satchels at the post office. It is just more time efficient for me.

I manually add the tracking number once I get home.

It seems to be causing headaches for us no matter what our routine is.

I will do as the OP has suggested and refer a customer to the AP tracking site.

Just been lucky (touch wood!) that no one has complained as yet.

I’m the same with parcels that aren’t showing tracking. It’s very frustrating. If I buy postage directly from AP online, the tracking doesn’t update.  I wonder if this is a ploy by eBay to « encourage » sellers to buy their postage through eBay!
