I know because this happened to me (sold an item, buyer didn't pay, closed Unpaid Item Case, received negative feedback) and I had to manually ask eBay to remove it. This is a massive oversight.
So for anyone who was under the impression that just closing an Unpaid Item Case prevents a buyer from leaving feedback, YOU ARE MISTAKEN.

Most of us have just reinforced that there are very simple remedies for getting the negative feedback removed.
The purpose of the post was threefold:
1) That non-paying buyers can leave negative feedback even after being issued an Unpaid Item Strike.
2) That the statement that "non-paying buyers cannot leave feedback after being issued a strike" which has been made many times by the 10,000 posters on this forum is false.
3) To warn readers of this fact.
In addition:
4) The simple remedies should not only be simple, but also automatic.
That is all.
Any passive aggressiveness coming from certain users with a superiority complex (not you) who think I'm here seeking advice is misdirected and unappreciated.

If the buyer leaves feedback before you close the case you have always had to ask ebay to remove it.
They always do it.
Closing the case is not the only criteria for being unable to leave feedback.....the buyer has to be issued with a strike.

If a buyer has committed to buy or won an auction they can leave feedback immediately.....they don't have to wait till they have paid.
The only way feedback cannot be left is if the seller opens an unpaid item dispute and the buyer gets a strike. In that case neither the buyer nor the seller can leave feedback.
In the event that feedback has already been left, a call to ebay will get it removed, no questions asked.

If the seller uses the Unpaid Assistant, which automatically opens a dispute after 4 days (or however many days the seller sets it for), then the buyer is immediately blocked from being able to leave feedback. So, if you are concerned a buyer may try to leave bad feedback because you open a dispute, turn on the Unpaid Assistant. I don't know why using the UA prevents buyers leaving feedback, when doing it manually doesn't.

Reread my post again. This has nothing to do with negative feedback that has been left by the buyer before or during an unpaid item case. The buyer can still leave negative feedback after they get an unpaid item strike.

What?! How can a buyer who hasn't paid leave feedback!? They haven't completed the purchase!!
That is the way it is supposed to work. But in practice, even after you give an unpaid item strike to the buyer, they can still give you negative feedback. They are not blocked from giving feedback, even if the other replies in this thread state otherwise.

If you have received a negative after closing a dispute and issuing a strike to the buyer you just need to ring ebay and have it removed.
It is not a big deal.
