Hi guys,
What happens if a buyer claims an item is faulty, when they are in fact using it in the wrong application. Who needs to pay return postage in this case?
Or for example a buyer returns an item claimed faulty and seller pays return postage, then after receiving the item it is tested and works fine. Do I just need to cop the return postage even though the item is not faulty?
Thanks in advance

You could try contacting ebays customer service, but I wish you luck with that one. In practice the seller is made to pay return postage because the buyer is always right.

The only time you (the seller) does not have to pay return postage is if the reason for the return given by the buyer is Change of Mind (COM). This is considered buyer remorse. If you have returns not accepted as a ploicy in your listings then you can refuse to accept returns ONLY when the reason is COM.
In the case of COM you can also charge a restocking fee (on item return) IF you have this defined in your listings.
But for any other reason if the buyer opens a formal case against you then bascially you get two options...
a). pay for the item to be returned and refund in full once it is received back. So you lose postage in both directions.
b). refund in full without return and the buyer keeps the item.
