eBay Valet

just saw this:

Get a Little Rich, Without a Lot Of Work

http://www.ebay.com.au/rpp/ebay-valet?_trkparms=clkid%3D818379436378667490

At a time when many sellers are having difficulty registering even a single sale they promote this.  I wonder if the provider of the Valet service gets extra exposure in search results?  My thoughts would be "Yes".

Spoiler
On another note, for a variety of reasons I will be selling more items on this ID next year.  As a result, I will be posting on the boards a lot less, probably not at all.  Unlike some, if I am not posting I will probably not read the boards.  Thanks for the ride, it's been interesting.  Sometimes fun, sometimes childish, never dull!

Re: eBay Valet

I received an invitation from ebay to send one box to ebay Valet for free.

I though I give it a go as if it works  ,it could be a solution for my at least 24 boxes of books!!!

i booked the courier and i have waited for 4 days for them  to collect,it is still here!!

i contacted fishpond the reply is:

couriers can collect berween 2 and 4 days

leave the box outside.( What about if it rains or gets stolen)

I have tried to communicate and asked for a confirmation of collection at least a day and AM OR PM

reply is just the same automated message.

so they cannot give you a call or email to confirm a collection date /time

i have not left my house fir 4 days.!!

Ebay is tarnishing its reputation even further by being associated with this totally unorganised crowd

Valet might be eBay's attempt to achieve their dream of being Amazon-lite. Amazon DO sell their own stock, ergo eBay needs their own stock (that they don't pay for)...

The Box finally got collected on day 5 after booking the pick up.

today 4 june , some 17 days later, nothing has been listed, or sold, i have not received any confirmation of the box being received  or any progress.

An absolute rort

if this is the idea of ebay trying to compete with Amazon, i say theyhave lost the plot.and i have lost a box of good books

Re: eBay Valet

Like I said.

I have many anecdotal complaints about Fishpond. It seems you can add to that total. You will probably get some money from them, but you will have to fight for it, and it won't be much.

You might also like to note that as Fishpond don't quote postage, their listings always appear at the bottom of P+P, cheapest first searches.

Re: eBay Valet

I counted 37 days since box was collected to when they were listed. "Ebay Experts" they say. "within 5 days of receiving" they say..

All they do is scan the barcode and whatever data may be attached to that is used. there's no checking accuracy of those details.

Looking through the listings there are incorrect titles, incorrect images, zero product details inside many of the listings. set prices based on condition, not the actual item / going rate. (good chance to grab a bargain if someone gets sucked in and sends in rare stuff to them thinking the experts might take care of it)

So glad what i sent was basically headed for the bin anyway just to test it out so if by some miracle i make a few bucks, sweet, but not counting on it.

Re: eBay Valet

their seller account is 'greatpricedeals'

probably mentioned already but their fee is 22% on valet.

So using a CD as an example, their general price for used and in decent nick looks to be $11.68.

If that sells. you pay them $1.92 commission + $2.95 for shipping to customer

= $4.87 to them - $6.81 to you.
