how to recover the money paid by bank deposit--the seller doesn't answer any emails

I've bought one item over 2 weeks ago--paid by internet banking and tried to contact the seller 4 times but he doesnt reply. the item didn't arrive--is the any way to recover the money even throgh police--any simillar cases?

Print out all of the details you have of this transaction, including any details you can find on the seller before he gets removed from ebay, and take everything you have to the police.
