NSW had a lot to learn from Victorians. I wish them the best but why did it take Gladys a month to realise that pussyfooting around this would do her no favors.
Now it looks like Morrison is throwing her under the bus too, as he does with everyone.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Biased media indeed, chameleon. When the news came out of Maguire's corruption and Gladys' connection, what did the right wing press -Murdoch- and the right wing lite press- SMH/ Age/Nine do? Did they go hard after her? No. It was the 'Unlucky-In-Love' BS. Not only did she know about his corrupt dealings, she did nothing about it and pumped money into his seat to assist in his re-election. Tip of the iceberg as far as Gladys goes. Her Deputy, Pork Barilaro, is also corrupt.
If only we had a federal ICAC. The number of LNP ministers that would be under investigation/stood down/charged would jump from one to over ten, including Scott Bolsonaro.

What I find interesting is that she stated she had no alternative other than to resign. Why? Is the ICAC evidence compelling and/or was she pressured by her party to resign because of the damage that would be done to the party if she was found to be corrupt while still Premier? I guess we'll eventually find out.

This might not be illegal, but is it ethical? That's not Gold Standard, Scott. Your handing out hundreds of million of dollars to marginal seats AND covering up a rape, now THAT'S Gold Standard.

"There's no place for corruption in public office but it would be unfortunate if there is also no place for a little bit of compassion for those who usually try to do their best but very publicly miss the mark on several occasions" - chameleon.
Exactly the reason they should release Roger Rogerson.

I,m not sure Roger Rogerson had the interests of the public at heart..............
At least Gladys had the decency to resign ............

Gladys Berejiklian’s handling of the outbreaks in general appears to have been effective. The Delta outbreak may have been impossible to reign in, as we see from the change in perspective in Victoria (no longer working towards zero) and New Zealand (ditto).
In a world of perfect human behaviour (Utopian or otherwise), or heavily enforced compliance (viz. China), the factors driving the transmission could have been controlled, with the outbreak squelched. But… it only takes one or two people unknowingly infected to bend the rules… and whoosh, there it goes.

Yes. And that's what is happening today. I think that certain leaders, the people that get to that position sacrifice a lot of what it takes to keep a human being "good". The corruption investigations usually come about because they don't have integrity and the smoke drifts too far where it is noticed. That wouldn't be as much problem to the people so much as long as they stay true to those people that elect them in. Sadly more often than not, they don't stay true.

Might be argued that is best if one first gets tested for covid-19 related antibodies , because if one has survived covid-19 infection or acquired immunity from inactive virus exposure then surely one does not need the covid-lite immunisation
