"You're Brown, Muslim, and a Girl"

"which is why you have a job with the ABC"

REAL Housewives of Sydney’s Lisa Oldfield has taken the criticism of ABC personality and Muslim activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied to another level, calling her a “b****” on live television.

Appearing as a political commentator on Sky News’ Paul Murray Live program, the Sydney businesswoman-turned reality TV star lashed out at Ms Abdel-Magied, whose offensive Anzac Day Facebook post has led to calls for her sacking.

The online comment that said “Lest we forget (Manus, Nauru, Syria, Palestine ...)” was removed by Ms Abdel-Magied about an hour after she had posted it when she said she realised it was offensive and apologised.

On Wednesday as online petitions lobbying for the part-time presenter’s dismissal from the public broadcaster reached more than 70,000 signatories, Ms Oldfield ranted on the late-night program.

“It wasn’t ignorant, she was just being a b****,” she said.

“At the end of the day I don’t like what she said. I was offended by what she said.

But I still support her right to freedom of speech, and my right to be able to turn around and say lest we forget, Yassmin, that you are brown, you are Muslim and you are a girl, and that’s the only reason you have a job at the ABC.”

Ok. It was a disrespectful thing to say, by Ms Abdel-Magied. She's not scared of speaking her mind is she?

And good on Ms Oldfield for having the guts to come out and speak hers as well.

He's been there for a very long time. Part of the left leaning, politically correct furniture so as to speak. I suspect if Tony Jones did not have a long history with the station he would have little hope of getting a gig there now. And if a white anglo saxon male had conservative political views he wouldn't even get a job as a copy boy at the ABC. ( you know its true !!! )

Like a lot of our public institutions the ABC has been completely over run with PC lefties. It needs a good clean out, removal of its leadership team and a bit more political and social balance restored. As it is the ABC has lost any pretences of indepedance and with it, has lost credibility and relevance to the vast majority of Australians.

What I know that according to some ultra right leaning individuals anyone that does not wet their pants when John Howard or Tony Abbott's name is mentioned or have different political views must be left leaning, political correct unemployable person except at the ABC and probably a union member/official. We "all"  know that the ABC should only blindly support the Right Wing governments ( the true saviours) and not mention anything that may of benefit to those darn lefties

Actually "we all" don't know that at all.

What "we all" know is that the ABC should be unbiased either way.

I agree, but He won't. He with his ultra right wing mates are white anting Turnball so badly that they make Rudd look like a Gillard supporter

If you think The ABC is full of "Chardonnay drinking socialists and special interest minority groups " I'd love to hear your opinion of commercial networks like Macquarie(2GB) and the once Ross Cameron/Mark Latham combination

Who are subscriber-supported, unlike the tax-payer funded ABC.

yes, but she got the part time ABC job because she is also bright and bubbly and exuberant.  There is nothing wrong with seeing people of different skin colour on TV for change.

Re: "You're Brown, Muslim, and a Girl"

true. she's well-presented, has a lovely smile, obviously highy intelligent.

and she's managed to finagle all that into a tax-payer funded junket

Speeches delivered by Muslim activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied during her taxpayer-funded tour of the Middle East and Africa did not include any mention of the oppression of women in the countries she visited.

The ABC employee’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-sponsored book tour late last year took her to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, the West Bank, Israel, Egypt and Sudan.

DFAT has confirmed in a response to questions on notice from Tasmanian Liberal senator Eric Abetz that Ms Abdel-Magied did not speak out against practices such as female genital mutilation and the death penalty, which occur in some of the countries she visited.

The department also confirmed that the $11,485 bill for Ms Abdel-Magied’s trip included $3246.20 for travel, $4605.87 for accommodation and $3632.93 for “incidentals”.
