Re: Drop in Sales & Free Listing for Stores

Yes extremely disheartening.

Over the past week we also have experienced an enormous drop in sales.

Down to around 10-15% of what it is in the good times for us.

We have heard on other forums that sellers selling on other avenues are not seeing this same huge drop, so from that it does appear to be ebay specific. To us it means that buyers are deserting ebay in their droves and looking elsewhere. With sellers leaving here and fees driving up prices there is not the range and price advantage to be had here any more. Not to mention the flood of cheap Chinese junk you have to compete with. In time ebay will become the place to go when you want to buy cheap Chinese rubbish. Those buyers will be welcome to it, in the meantime we will establish ourselves in the quality items marketplaces, they are out there.

So we are also now actively exploring other selling avenues including the launching of our own web site. Early signs are positive.

Once we can get these up to a level we are happy with we intend to scale back our selling on here dramatically or perhaps altogether.

It's just not worth the hassle for us these days.

With all their policy changes over this past year ebay have encouraged a very bad clientele of buyers who seem to be out to rip off sellers at every possible turn and we don't feel like being exposed to all this activity. Too nerve wracking. The dwindling returns we are getting are just not worth it.

I can only suggest trying to sell elsewhere as we are doing.

We are coming to the belief that ebay is imploding so its time to have exit strategies in place.

We are now actively working towards that end.

Re: Drop in Sales & Free Listing for Stores

I believe that something is wrong with the site.

I don't think that such a big slump is due to people not shopping here anymore.

80% of the sales I've had this week have been return customers...without them it would have been the worst week I've ever had.

Elsewhere it's been discussed that US and UK buyers are experiencing the same thing.

So something has been done to the site, that has affected it world-wide.

Re: Drop in Sales & Free Listing for Stores

I have noticed a decline since last September

I think the time has come for me to run out my stock and close up shop as ebay is just not happening anymore

I will also try other sites mentioned however ebay used to be where most of the traffic flowed, now it is something akin to QS

pity but that is how the cookie crumbles

good luck to other sellers and I hope sales pick up soon however as much of an optimist as I am I have a feeling this is as good as it is going to get which is not very good for me

Re: Drop in Sales & Free Listing for Stores

the first post is 'the search engine customers are using to find your items'....the second post is 'what page the customer was on, before getting to your page'.....
shows that nothing much is 'filtering through' unless already on Ebay ๐Ÿ˜ž
