Ebay charging almost 20% in terms of fees for a $5 product.

Hey All,

I have sold a product (less than 5 orders) and ebay charged 20% in terms of fees and I ended up getting only $4.03 back. Just wanted to check if this is true across the board. and if this is worth it in the long run.

Not sure why you would get charged 20% unless you have not singed up correctly and been verified for Managed Payments

Or

Are you drop ship shipping?

Or

do you have an unusual number of defects?

(Would think so on the last one, but high defects do push things higher)

Your fees are correct.

13.4%  of   $5  =  67c

Plus 30c  Fixed Fee  =  97c.

The fixed Fee makes a difference on low value items.

Not 20%  but the normal 13.4% plus 30c fixed fee per order.

$5.00 x 13.4% + 30c = $4.03

Only you can decide whether it's worth it or not.

You could raise your prices to cover fees - it's what most sellers do anyway.

Of course it is worth it if you calculate your costs before listing an item.  Ebay's fees are published and transparent.   Check what they are and price your item apprpriately.

It sounds like you didnt check you fee's before you hit the big, I agree to the T&C's button for listing.
