Hello everyone I have been lurking these boards for years and still cannot understand the bickering

I have been a member of EBAY even before it was EBAY. I cannot remember the name at this point of time. It was a great place to visit and it was loved by everyone. I now only sell on 1 account but this is my posting account. My Question? Why is there so much Bickering on EBAY these days. Someone is always complaining about EBAY fees, EBAY rules EBAY postage Paypay Holdings, and it goes on and on. Then you have users having a go at each other, What ever happened to the good old days?

You hit the nail on the head.....you remember the good old days.

These are no longer the good old days....ebay has changed and so have the members....and not necessarily for the better.

I'd say it's both a Peanuts (Charlie Brown, et al) reference as there's a character in that strip named Linus who has a security blanket, and a suggestion you may need the comfort if your post isn't very well received...

I remember Charlie brown I alo remember Linus but I do not  understand what a character in a cartoon show has to do with me., I am almost 70 yo and so why cant we go back to the old days. This is what i mean in my first post. Nobody wants to get along. Evertone complains about Everything. 25 years ago everyone would have a laugh. Auction Sales I tjhink something or other was when I joined up and my account is still active as in my first post I was a lurker just watching  Everything

Well, in a literal (as opposed to figurative) sense, the blankie-carrying Linus is unlikely to be your namesake, and so would have little to do with you, but it was an apt quip all things considered. It wasn't a comment on or about you, as such, it was a comment more on the nature of the forum - which you yourself have decided to comment upon.

It's really nice that you recall better times on ebay, so do most of the people who take issue with a lot of eBay's decisions, and personally, I think it's good to take issue with things one doesn't agree with - it can be beneficial in a variety of ways, if it's done constructively.

In my first post, I was alluding to something, which may or may not have been too subtle... Something I've never really understood, despite the fact that I've seen it on these boards several times over the years I've been posting, is why people feel the need to post about not liking how people behave in the forums - I don't mean posts where people call out someone on something specific, I mean the very general "hey guys, this forum sucks now because you're all bickering complainers" kinds of posts. I don't understand that tactic, because if I felt the forum was getting too much like that, rather than sit in judgement and provoke like some people have done, I would just lead (for lack of a better word) by example, and contribute in a way I felt was constructive.

Cos everyone expects everything for free ( influence on society of years of Labor goverment and socialist philosophy ) and cos its always someone elses fault.   ............... Nowadays its all about rights and no responsibility.

In response to linumac_0's starting post:

You've written into the Selling forum, so I guess you're referring to sellers.

I feel that sellers like me can be a bit gloomy because it is so easy for buyers to scam us and ruin our happiness and reputation with one single transaction dispute regardless of our history, because eBay almost always sides with the buyer in a situation and makes us jump through hoops to prove our side of the story.

So we're kind of all living on the edge, always expecting something bad to go wrong and ruin our days at any minute.  Every positive feedback is truly a blessing, one more bullet dodged.
