Did Australia Post lie about the reason for the postage fee rises

Did auspost lie about the reason for the price rise on postage.

the reason they have been giving to everyone is the decline in letters sent, but in an email response about another issue about high costs to send an item, the response i got said the following in an email on the 03/03/2014:

"We are charging these prices, as Australia Post process over 22 million articles per day, most of them being parcels and we need more resources to ensure these parcels are processed and delivered within the expected timeframes." - Claire R | Digital Sales and Service | Australia Post

so isnt the real reason because they need money to help them send more parcels. it says nothing about letters. did australia post use the less letters as a gimick and lie to convince the government that they need extra cash to help do up facilities for dealing with the increase in parcels being sent. if they told the gov they need money becasue parcels being sent in aus is booming, they would have been laughed out the door. they would have said use the profits on the increase in parcels on fixing up facilities or giving them the extra resources, dont ask for more money when things are booming and going better despite a lowering of letters sent.

its called investment, look it up auspost, pay now and reap the rewards later. they may end up with less annual profit this year but once the facilities and resources are there it will pay for itself in higher profit and no need to increase postage fees especially since there are no shareholders except gov so if profits are down one year it dont matter if its to improve the business. a private business would increase fees so money doesnt come off of annual profits which is god.

the money we currently pay on parcels should pay to send it including processing.!!!!!!!

they make it sound like they make no money on it, especially if parcels are increasing they should breaking even or be rolling in the extra cash flow dough, which would go towards improving resouces and facilities.

once again, if letters are decreasing, so what, they are getting more parcels sent........ which cost a lot more to send because of the little extra processing involved which should mean higher profitability.

i just feel they gave that whole letters decrease sob story and lied when they just want to get some quick cash to do up the parcel facilities NOW instead of saving up or investing in itself like a good business and improving them with the extra parcel increases they are getting.

they basically said to the aus gov: PLEASE SIR CAN I HAVE SOME MORE.

what the australia government must realise is firstly just how over priced our postage is here in this country now, u cant keep increasing postage because of bad business management and practices from the heads of auspost?!?!?!?

and secondly, postage needs to be as dirt cheap as possible, its vital that it is owned by the government, because cheap postage help businesses stay strong and competitive to other busineses here and overseas. if it cost too much business slows down, postage is like the oil in the gears of business, if it cost too much, business slows down, the government losses billions in tax revenue and gst.

it must be owned by the gov because business cant be run cheaper than at cost, if you privatise they increase prices always, prices never go down and the government will loose those billions in lost tax as businesses cant compete with high postage costs.

it funny, the gov allows aus post to increase prices which will most likely help make the gov loose billions just so aus post can increase profits by a few million?!?! INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as postage fees are higher, busineses must pass on the costs, people dont like the higher costs so they dont buy, less things getting sold, people loose jobs, businesses close, people join the dole, BILLIONS LOST IN TAX....................

Re: Did Australia Post lie about the reason for the postage fee rises

One suggestion is that a large percentage of the extra parcels are actually coming from overseas. Due to International postal agreements signed by Aust. Post, which mean AP delivers them for next to nothing, these actually cost more to handle than AP recieves. Australia Posts answer to this problem is to jack up local parcel costs to help recover the money. RESULT - Shoppers buy more things Internationally for cheaper postage than Australian businesses can offer due to high local postage costs. Re: Did Australia Post lie about the reason for the postage fee rises

makes sense, crazy situation.

a normal business usually reduces prices to attract more business, like a sale, like mcdonalds with the dollar menu, boosts profits significantly. maybe a bulk deal or loyalty sceme.

but the nutty guy running auspost who just said we should have a user pay system, why, cause its currently free?!?!?!?!? im confused.

he seems to be the problem, he wants privatisation despite auspost doing extremely well in the current lettergate scadle, the so called lack of letters being sent dilema. i can understand if the business was doing bad but their profits are up 10.9 per cent on last year, with a profit of $312 million in 2013, third in a row.

WHAT?!?!?! a third consecetive year of growth and they want to get greedy, ruin the economy, cause us to send less items in the post, reduce online sales within australia and cost us billions in tax lost when they had a 10.9 per cent profit @ 312 million, am i in crazyland. go home australia post boss, your drunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has any business that has been privatised reduced costs ever, are we enjoying lower electricty costs after privatisation, are we enjoying lower private health care fee's since privatising, do we enjoy lower school fees in private schools, answer is always NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO and Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Strewth ...... Anybody would think auspost are a public service instead of an independent profit centre for raising consolidated revenue for the Mad Monk (& all his predecessors ....)

ebay are in the process of proving that the buying public will tolerate a 10% price increase in postage & chuckling all the way to their off-shore bank while doing it ......

and after last night's budget, if Mrabbit & the Cigar Smoked Hock have any say in it, Auspost will be privatised before the next election .....

You'd better have a seat belt & airbag fitted to your swivel chair .....
