Buyer beware 2 years warranty not worth a pinch of salt. And yes Ebay does not help. Purchased a rangehood and within ten months the led light casing warped out of shape and popped out. Have you had a problem with REMOVED products? Any ideas? VICAT?

Ebay are a selling platform, they don't sell you the goods, or manage warranties.   

Consider Ebay to be the Westfield in the B&M space,  if Kmart failed to honour a warranty you don't whinge and complain about Westfield.  You complain about Kmart.

Feedback of 98.2%, did you read their feedback?  Why would you buy in the first place?

Warranties are only valid if given by an authorised brand distributor located within Australia.

Ebay cannot monitor billions of listing for warranty truthfulness.

It's up to the buyer to do a minimum of research, including the seller feedback. Anything less than 99.8% from a large volume seller is potentially risky.

Ebay warranties aren't worth the screen they're typed on. You have zero recourse. Especially if you bought from China.

Yes, don’t buy something, anything from someone who is not an authorised seller and expect a warranty. Simple as that

If you did indeed buy from and authorised seller, then by all means, report away

Why would ebay give special rules and help on any issue whatsoever ten months after purchase?

Unfortunately no, as others have said warranties are only valid if they are from an authorized reseller. 

Recently someone on this board managed to get a refund from PayPal in a similar case, but it was under 6 months of course, as you cannot open a case after 180 days. I assume PayPal may issue refunds "at their discretion" in such cases.

All ebay is concerned about is how the initial transaction goes. As in, you bought from someone, did they send the item within the right time frame and did you receive that item?

If those 2 things happen, job done as far as ebay is concerned.

If you received an item that was damaged or didn't work, or if your item never arrived, that's when you would get help from ebay, but those are things you would know about very quickly, which is why ebay only gives 30 days for you to make a claim. That alone tells you that ebay is covering only limited and very specific conditions.

A warranty is a different thing altogether, isn't it!

Ebay won't police those, that is between you and the seller. If you buy from a big company you might have some hope of a claim. But in general, ebay isn't the palce to buy anything where you really want a valid warranty. If you bought from overseas, no hope of getting help that I know of, on ebay or elsewhere.

Springyzone, all ebay is concerned is how to collect their commission and keep the regular seller happy! Ebay is not concerned about having sellers advertise their fraudulent warranty to attract and sell their products as long as Ebay collects…

Surely Ebay could have suppied me with a phone number of the relevant entity that avoids their warranty. The only number I was supplied with was for outgoing calls only and therefore I was given the runarounds while Ebay washed their hands...

If Ebay is advertising money back for the 30 days and the 180 days or whatever you are talking about, they should at least assist buyers for the longer term of warranty they allow their sellers to advertise through Ebay.
