Do Buyers Really Believe Sellers Have A Crystal Ball?

Sold an item on 19th April. 1. Automatic eBay invoice sent when auction finished. 2, I sent an Invoice on 21st just in case the first wasn't received. After day 4 and NO contact from buyer I open an UID (too many non-payers lately)

Today I get this message:

"I am paying for this today. I have been in hopsital after having a baby via caesaran section. Thank you for making inital contact with me to maybe to discuss a delay for the payment. Maybe you need to work on your commuication skills"

Is this woman kidding?? I am suppose to know that she was in hospital......how??  Maybe she needs to learn how to read Sale Requirements in listings before placing bids, particularly if she cannot pay on time.

I need a good (non-smartarse response as much as I would like to send one)!

Just to satisfy your curiosity as you have the buyers name and address you could do an online search of their local papers births column to see if anything shows up

Isn't  'hospital'  a default setting for non-paying buyers?        pondering-and-thinking-smiley-emoticon.gif

Usually, yes. Or they are a disability carer or have an autistic child. Lets not forget the goldfish or neighbour's bought the item without them knowing, or they themselves accidentally went through the 2 stage buying process.

I did actually have a non payer (who ended up paying) that was in hospital. I assumed he was telling the truth because he changed his avatar to, I'm assuming him, laying in a hospital bed. Of course one never knows if it was a current photo, but when I searched the photo in google, it directed me to his facebook page where the photo was also posted. He ended up paying on day 3 of the UPI, with a big apology and explaination. He's since bought quite a few more things and paid straight away.

It is surprising though how many buyers suddenly get sick after buying something before paying. One could be concerned that eBay is bad for your health!

The question now remains - did this buyer end up paying ???????????

considering this was her email (yesterday) to the op:

"I am paying for this today"

Yes, buyer has now paid. Maybe I could delay posting her item then when she emails me, respond with "sorry for the delay, but I was in hospital having quadruplets by Caesarian. You should have known that if you looked into your crystal ball!"

Slap on the hand, naughty seller!
