Selling collectible items (alcohol)

Hi,

I just received an email that eBay have removed my item due to it being a full can of alcohol.

I have sold these before, with no problems.
In fact previous times I have researched on eBay and found that as the item is collectible it was ok to list and sell.

I am selling a Sydney Swans 2005 AFL Premiership limited edition can.
It is full of beer (unopened) but is 7 years old and well past it's use by date.

Have eBay policies changed, or have the got this one wrong (ie it can be sold as a collectible item)

Thanks
Martin

Re: Selling collectible items (alcohol)

i sold a box of Simpsons Duff Beer, the ones released in south australia and were pulled by the manufacturers after being threatened by the Simpsons Lawyers.

I had wondered how to off load this carton of 24 cans for a long time before deciding to just list it and say nothing in the ad about alcohol being in the cans.

just said carton of 24 cans of duff beer $500

sold within a week and no one said anything, guy who bought them was ok with it, left great feedback (who knows maybe he listed the single cans and made a profit as single cans were selling for more that $500 per 24)

i just wanted them gone in case they exploded from age. they were really old.

$500 for a box of beer that cost me $30 seemed a good sale.

Re: Selling collectible items (alcohol)

I realize this is an old thread. This morning I listed part of my Jack Daniels collection. Within 5 minutes thy had been removed off eBay. Reason being cause I don't have a liquor license. What are you supposed to do with your collection, take them to your grave !

No liquor licence - no sell.

Drink 'em and sell the empty bottles or sell through an auction house.

Australia is actually retarded, have this set at home: https://www.mybottleshop.com.au/game-of-thrones-whisky-collection-limited-edition-700ml

That now apparently I can't sell "online" which is such a crock of **bleep**

Re: Selling collectible items (alcohol)

Have you bothered to read the thread at all?

You need a liquor licence to sell alcohol.

And someone who pays over $2000 for 750ml of whisky, needs their head read IMO.

Re: Selling collectible items (alcohol)

Take them to a regular auction house specialising in alcohol.....you will probably get better prices there anyway.

Re: Selling collectible items (alcohol)

Your post four months after the last one and SEVEN YEARS after the one you're replying to, really helps.

To sell alcohol requires an alcohol licence. This has been the case for at least the last 50 years, so it has nothing to do with 'now', and shows your post in its true light.
