I think it was Susan Slade, starring Troy Donahue and Connie Stevens.  Like you Rabbit, I would have been fresh out from England. We didn't have drive-ins there, in winter it was too cold and in summer it didn't get dark till too late.

Yes, June 1961 we arrived. We were sponsored out by this lady in Toowoomba (Mrs Dooni) and dad had 10 quid in his pocket.

He went out one day to get a loaf of bread, and he came home with this parcel shaped like a loaf of bread - it turned out to be a radio - our entertainment for the first few months.

He got a job at the Westbrook 'farm home' for delinquent boys. He bought an old Ford Prefect on tick, and we went in to the servo and bought 2s6p worth of petrol.  I remember it like it was yesterday...

I can't remember but I was 18 and on a double date. The boys wanted us to get in the boot to save money. 😮
We paid our own way in and bolted to the phone to call a friend to come get us.

That is so funny. Typical "Aussies" lol

When I met my husband our first date was Kramer vs Kramer, was nice to meet an English (kind of gentleman) that paid for things.

i think so, i remember watching people get out of the boot, was funny

got to the point they could check the boot if they suspected anybody in there at the gates, and they wouldnt allow the car entry at all if they discovered people in the trunk
